A Course in Miracles

A Way of Living

I’d like to ponder for a moment this paradoxical line from A Course in Miracles:

There is a way of living in the world that is not here, although it seems to be.

The body is doing all its typical doings: running errands, dealing with traffic, processing email, interacting with difficult people, and so forth. Living life as we normally do.

What changes is where we're living it from.

The me carries on with its schedule, its opinions, its small and seemingly large dramas. But by shifting attention from the goings-on to the witnessing presence that observes it all unfolding, everything transforms.

We’re no longer tangled up in any of it.

From the outside, it looks like any ordinary day. From the inside, there's nothing left to defend.

Here, and not here. In the world, and at peace beyond it.
